Waumba Land 6 & 7 – Threes
For a preschooler, the entire world is new. Three year olds have just learned that they have the ability to act on their world and see results. From sights to sounds to smells, every interaction broadens their experience. At Brazos Fellowship we use this developmental stage to INCITE WONDER about God and his creation in the hearts of children. Our First Look Curriculum, part of a program called Orange*, introduces preschoolers to three essential truths:
- God loves me;
- God made me; and
- Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
You may be wondering “What does Waumba Land even mean?” Waumba means Creator in Swahili, so Waumba Land means “the land of the Creator.” Waumba Land is the new name of our weekly environment created especially for your infant (six weeks) through Kindergarten children. We can’t wait to meet them! We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways. We are ready for them!
As preschoolers enter the space each week, they have the chance to be drawn in by a fun, engaging activity. During lesson time kids have a chance to sing, move, watch a short skit about a real-life situation, and hear a Bible Story told in age-appropriate language. Later they have a chance to review the weekly concept through memory verse review, Bible story review, movement, or a craft activity. Before they go home, they have a chance to talk with a leader and share the big and small moments of their lives.
A simple monthly Bottom Line reinforces the point of the lesson, then kids are sent home with Parent CUEs to assist in applying the story at home during the week. Because due to parents having so much more time with kids than we do, we understand what happens at home is more important in the spiritual development of a child than what happens at church.
Ready for your kids to experience Waumba Land for themselves? We look forward to meeting you in person soon!
