Waumba Land 4 & 5 – Runners and Twos
Early Childhood represents a time of rapid physical and mental development. Toddlers are walking, showing signs of readiness to potty train, and beginning to explore the world around them. They are just learning how to play with others, and developing the ability to listen for a few minutes. At Brazos Fellowship we gently introduce toddlers to three essential truths:
- God loves me;
- God made me; and
- Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
You may be wondering “What does Waumba Land even mean?” Waumba means Creator in Swahili, so Waumba Land means “the land of the Creator.” Waumba Land is the new name of our weekly environment created especially for your infant (six weeks) through Kindergarten children. We can’t wait to meet them! We know things are busy at this stage of life and your children are learning and growing in amazing ways. We are ready for them!
As toddlers enter the space each week, they find a room full of stations that allow for a variety of physical activities, from play kitchens to puzzles and books to toy trucks. At this age, children are just beginning to be able to focus for small moments throughout the hour. Accordingly, we encourage brief windows of singing, movement, listening to short stories, interspersed with lots of free play.
Ready for your kids to experience Waumba Land for themselves? We look forward to meeting you in person soon!
